“Promote Dance Education, Cultivate Performing Arts” is the mission statement of CentreStage Dance Academy Sdn. Bhd. (CSDA) located in Taman Eng Ann, Klang. For the past 20 years, CSDA has been a successful provider of high quality dance education to parents and children in the community.

Every two years, a charity dance concert with the theme ‘Heart to Hearts’ is held to provide a platform for dance students to perform and display their talents and skills on a proper stage. Besides that, ‘Heart to Hearts’ is also a charity act that gathers the energy of dance students of CSDA ranging from 4 years old to adults for a good cause. It all starts with a single heart to help others and flourishes into the unity of hearts.

This year, this exciting event will be onstage again. Gathering the powers of CSDA students and parents, the charity dinner dance concert, in aid of the TI-RATANA CHILDREN’S HOME, will promise you a night of artistic and soul moving ambience. This night will be a night when we celebrate performing arts and love.

Men In Tutus 9/05, Sunway Resort Performance 26/05

You see this is the poster for Men In Tutus. Cool isn't it? Can you imagine, men wearing Tutus on pointe? =) Bunch of students and teachers of Centrestage went to KL Pac for this show! It was like a School Trip haha!!

Performance in Sunway Pyramid

Howdy, dancers and everyone else!

It's 5th of April and dancers represnting Centrestage rocked the stage in Sunway Pyramid!

There were total 3 performances by us. The first dance is the opening ceremony danced by all big "jie jie"s - Fan Dance, second one - Little Chair by the small "mei mei"s and last but not least is the Chinese Dance - Shou Juan by the bigger "mei mei"s. Well you see, they the big ones big jie jie and the small ones mei mei. So it's slighty easier for me right? So I'm one of the big jie jie! :)

I believe everyone knows the first we'll do before the actual performance is... Rehearsal.

We had been rehearsing for this show for weeks.

Big jie jies do not only perform during performance but we are also responsible for helping out looking after the kids and help them to prepare.

We were the first to perform and the upcoming one was the little girls.

I'll call them the "Teddy Girls". They have this very cute teddy pin on their clothes.

It was all about working that cloths in their hands which they call them "Shou Juan".

Seriously I tried to work it but I failed. So they must have put in lots of efforts to practice and get the technique right!

Well, ...

After the performance the Jie Jies went to change in the ladies but in the end we decided to take pictures of ourselves. This is only one of the pics we took. We took like "trillions" of photo with stupid yet adorable looks and expressions!

You might know this guy from Astro or some other Singaporean and Malaysian Mandarin movies.

I'm not sure about the spelling but what I got is his name as Lam Tak Weng.

He was the host of the whole event. And oh by the way, it was some slimming programme competition. There were girls looking beautiful there after slimming down. And they were working on the stage to the Champion!

These were some of the photos that Miss. Tan took for some of the performances last year. She gave it to me last Friday and now is time to post the pictures.

This was a performance we did on 17 of may 2008 in Klang Parade....

The first performance was the contemporary dance by Teacher Poh Ghee

Breathing course

11-3-2009 Wednesday.

A short course was held in Centrestage. It was all about how you treat your body. Participants were taught to appreciate every part of our body by feeling every small part of our body. Most of the steps and technique we learnt was discovered by a 99 years old Yoga instructor. And our instructor of the day was Ms. Lee Ee Mei and Ms. Helen Khaw.

This part was funny.

Everyone was suppose to make the "Rawr~!" sound as loud as possible with the fierce facial expression and our hands like the tiger paws.

Small Performance

The small performance that we had done is called Adage Study... Adage means slow, unfolding movements and this performance is to concentrate on slow movements and to improve the dancer's ability to control leg and increase extension. Moreover, this small performance was chorographed by Miss Gan in our advance free work class.
